A Quilt for Narkeisha

Here is a photo of a bright little quilt I've just made for the little sister of one of my daughters best friends.

SOUTH AUSTRALIAN FESTIVAL OF QUILTS 2012

At the South Australian Quilt Guilds Festival of Quilts in November "Fantasy Flowers" was placed
second in the Pictorial Open category.
This quilt was also my entry into the 2012 Sydney Quilt Show where I was invited to enter in their special "Master Quilter" category to celebrate the 30th aniversary of the exhibition.

"Fantasy Flowers"

"Umbelliferae" was placed second in the Art Quilt Open category.

"Umbelliferae"

"Paulownia Study" was placed third in the Small Quilt Open category.
This is my first attempt at a wholecloth quilt.

A NEW ACHIEVMENT FOR GOURD

At the Australian Machine Quilting Association 2012 Show my quilt "Gourd" achieved a third place in the Thread Art/Pictorial category.

HOUSTON ACHIEVEMENT

I am thrilled to report that my quilt "Fantasy Seedpods" won an Honorable Mention in the Art-Abstract, Small category at Houston this year.

A Sewing Machine for our Neighbourhood Centre

My group of beginner patchwork friends who meet Tuesday mornings at our local neighbourhood centre entered a craft competition between neighbourhood centres throughout South Australia.
We made a small quilt to hang in the Centre as our entry. Each of the girls made a block of their own design with a seaside theme and I assembled them together into the quilt.
Well guess what, we won a sewing machine for the Centre and the girls are so proud of their efforts.
Sorry I don't have a photo available at the moment but will try to get one.

MY QUILT IN HUSTON TEXAS

I am very excited to report that the first time I attempted entering one of my quilts in the Houston quilt show my quilt "Fantasy Seed Pods" was one of the 54% of entries selected by the jury to go into this prestigious show. I am thrilled to bits and still walking on air and just had to share this with you all.

TWO NEW QUILTS

Here are photos of the two quilts I have finished lately. The first is a seaside quilt featuring a leafy sea-dragon in the middle with embroideries of shells and sea-creatures around the border. I have written up a pattern for this quilt.

The second quilt, Fantasy Flowers, was my entry into the Master Quilters contemporary category in Sydney this year.

WHATS NEW

I have given up my job at the shop so that I have more time for designing new quilts and producing new patterns. Friends and fellow quilters were disappointed to find that I had no quilts entered in our 2011 Adelaide exhibition. This was simply because I hadn't had time to finish any. I have also had the honor of being invited to enter the Master Quilter categories in the 2012 Sydney quilt show and so I need time to create quilts for this.
David and I attended the trade market in Melbourne in November which was very inspirational. I was given a lot of helpful advice from stallholders which I will put to good use in expanding my pattern business. Watch my blog to follow my progress in the new year.
Regards Elizabeth.
